You want to know about the Omega Molecule?

You are aware that all mention of this molecule is forbidden by Starfleet?

Very well. I will tell you about the Omega Molecule.
 

Particle zero one zero, or the Omega molecule as Starfleet calls it, is infinitely complex -- yet harmonious. The molecules exist in a flawless state. Infinite parts functioning as one. To the Borg it represents perfection. Yet noone, not even the Borg, has yet been able to harness its power. Each time the Borg attempted to employ it as a power source,  they failed. A single stable Omega molecule is said to contain the same amount of energy as a warp core.

Knowledge of the Omega molecule was first obtained by the Borg when Species 262 was assimilated about 230 years ago. They were a primitive species but their oral history referred to stories of a powerful substance that could burn the sky. The Borg decided to search for this substance.
Then Species 263 was assimilated. They too had stories of a powerful molecule that was said to be a drop of blood from their creator. The Borg were instructed to assimilate Particle  Zero One Zero at all costs.

Eleven other species with stories of powerful creators and weapons that burned the sky, were also assimilated. The Borg followed this trail of myth for many years until finally assimilating a species with useful scientific data.

The Borg were then able to create a single Omega molecule themselves using a harmonic resonance chamber to contain and stabilize Omega. They kept it stable for one-trillionth of a nanosecond before it destabilized. Twenty nine vessels, and 600,000 drones perished. The subspace was destroyed for a distance of 10 light years in every direction. The Borg did not have enough boronite ore left to synthesize more, but the knowledge they gained allowed them to refine their theories. To the Borg, Particle zero one zero represents perfection. All Borg drones are instructed to find more boronite ore, and to assimilate the molecule at all costs.

That is the Borg history of the Omega molecule.

The Starfleet history of the Omega molecule is somewhat similar. They too synthesized a molecule that also exploded, and destroyed subspace for several light years. But their reaction was different from the Borg. Starfleet chose to reject the Omega molecule as a power source, because a chain reaction of Omega molecules destabilizing, would lead to the total destuction of subspace, and thus warp travel would be impossible throughout the Alpha Quadrant. Space faring civilisation would cease to exist. When Starfleet realised Omega's power, they suppressed all knowledge of it.

I do not have any personal knowledge of the Omega molecule. All my knowledge comes from the hive mind of the Borg. However I do know know that the USS Voyager, which recently returned from the Delta Quadrant, had an encounter with the Omega molecule. I have been in contact with the former Borg crew member on Voyager.  Her name is Seven of Nine. She tells me that for three point two seconds she saw the Omega molecule in its perfect state before it destabilised. before the captain had all records of the molecule deleted and suppressed.

Seven was sworn to never divulge what she knew about the Omega molecule, but since she is not part of Starfleet, and since I too am an former drone, she has passed on her personal knowledge to me.
